Jury Meeting for Martha Farrell Award for Excellence in Women’s Empowerment

The jury for Martha Farrell Award for Excellence in Women’s Empowerment met on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the office of Martha Farrell Foundation, to review the finalists for the award and to choose the winners. The award will felicitate one individual and one organization, who have made a significant contribution to the field of women’s empowerment and gender equality. The two winners will also receive prize money of INR 1.5 Lacs each.

The nominations for the award were concluded on January 5, 2017, where a total of 125 nominations – 62 for the category of “Most Promising Individual” and 63 for the category of “Best Organization for Gender Equality”, were received. Out of 62 individual nominations, five nominations made it to the final list and out of 63 organizational nominations, eight made it to the final list. The final decision of the jury was based on Dr. Martha Farrell’s values of:

  1. Everyday practical actions
  2. Personal example of change
  3. Working with both men and women
  4. Gender mainstreaming within institutions – changing systems and cultures

The Jury has chosen the winners for both the categories, which will be announced at the Martha Farrell Award Ceremony on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Nehru Memorial Auditorium, Teen Murti Bhavan, New Delhi.
