Martha Farrell Foundation had organised a 3 day workshop on Gender in collaboration with our local partner CINI in Kharibari block, Darjeeling district. Around 42 youth (16 male and 26 female) from Kharibari Block had participated in the workshop. Deboshree Mohanta from Martha Farrell Foundation, Mohit Chhabra a KBC youth trainer and sports trainer Akash Thapa from ProSport Development delivered the sessions for 3 days.
In these 3 days, the youth actively participated to discuss various aspects of gender, violence and how it affects them. The youth reflected on their lives and expressed using forms such as arts, sports, discussions, poetry, dance and even street play. The experience was enriching for everyone and learning based. Greatest achievement of this workshop was to understand one another, both girls and boys, and giving the space to exercise their rights.
In the end of the workshop, the youth built the trust among each to sensitize others on issues of gender and violence using the techniques learnt during the workshop. their 3 month plan included advocacy through strengthening the youth groups, collaborate with SHGs, street play during melas, social media and posters.
