Police departments, like any other employer, are mandated to implement the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 that seeks to protect women from sexual harassment at their place of work.
In continuation to our efforts to build capacities of the employers/employees on their rights related to sexual harassment at workplace. Martha Farrell Foundation conducted half-day training on sexual harassment for the police department in the Prahladpur Police Station.
The participants included SHO, Inspectors, Head Constables, Constables and other administrative staff. The training raised awareness about what amounts to sexual harassment as per the act, the procedure of filing complaints and how complaints will be redressed.
The main purpose of this training was to sensitize the police department to treat all forms of sexual harassment including winking, staring etc. with equal gravity so that it can be stopped before it turn into something more grave and serious.
